Instructor in Human Performance - Sport Management
Courtney Murray Carter has worked as an Instructor of Sport Management in the Department of Human Performance at Campbellsville University since 2020, and has worked in higher education since 2009. She advises and mentors over 20 majors in Harrodsburg, provides oversight of regional curriculum and reporting, assists in department strategic planning and assessment, facilitates internship placement sites, and establishes community partnerships for student employment. She is most passionate about coordinating and executing experiential learning opportunities for Sport Management majors, including the NFL Teammates program for the 2024 NFL Draft, a Cincinnati Reds Event Promotion Trip, and a Keeneland Patron Experience Trip. She also teaches a variety of courses, including Sport Marketing, Sport Ethics, Stress Management, Principles for Wellness, Gender and Diversity in Sport, and Psychology of Sport.
Her research focuses on student athlete success and retention, culturally responsive teaching and advising, and the sociology of sport. She has presented her work at regional and national conferences, including a NACADA Regional Conference and N4A National Conference. Courtney is currently earning her Ph.D. in Sport Management from Troy University. She earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education, Sport Management Emphasis, from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Bachelor's Degree in English from Centre College. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including NASSM, NACADA, and N4A. She is happily married to Eric Carter and has 4 children, ages 2 to 12!
